David set up practice in Bangor 20yrs ago after working for two of the top Belfast Practices on RIBA award winning projects. He has created a reputation for delivering a high standard of design with a personal service aimed at minimising the stress clients experience during the whole building process. David has worked on a range of projects, sports and leisure, industrial, retail and domestic. While comfortable working on commercial projects the main work of the practice centres around one off private dwellings, extensions and refurbishment.

Prior to setting up his own Practice David worked for three years with Belfast Practice Twenty Two Over Seven.  He was the Project Architect on a RIBA award winnning Housing Scheme and worked on the RIBA award winning Ormeau Baths Development.  He also worked with Robinson Patterson Partnership from qualifying to 1990 and was Project Architect on Housing Association projects, churches and major commercial projects.

David attended the Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art at Dundee University between 1981 and 1987.

  • 1984 Completed Bsc .  Was awarded the P.H. Thoms Memorial Prize in Architecture.
  • 1986 Was awarded The Dalgaty Dunn Scholarship in Architecture
  • 1986 Won British Flat roofs National Design Competition for Centrepoint Soho.
  • 1987 Completed BArch with 1st Class Honours and was awarded The Arup Award in Architecture

A passion of drawing and painting initiated Davids interest in Architecture , much of the architecture is developed on the computer with CAD programmes,  sketching is used at  concept stage and to work out design problems.  With this move away from paper David has continued with painting and drawing, mainly places and people.  It would be his aim to combine painting and architecture with “People in Places” and exhibit, he would also be open to commissions.  Some examples of his work are shown below.
